To Fall or not to Fall?

Have you ever wondered what the terms fall and peeko mean?

As the first installment of our new series All Things Handloom , we explained the terms Fall and Peeko.

The series which is supposed to be a glossary or vocabulary aims at explaining terms of the Handloom Industry to people who are absolute beginners.

Fall is a 2.5-3 metre cloth of terricota or cotton which is applied where the foot of the saree is to provide strength and durability to the saree.

Peeko also known as edging is the folding of the loose edges of the sarees to prevent ripping of the thread by getting stuck in something.

Fall and Peeko are essential for every saree!
